A Roblox builder turns a setting into a place that works for players. Whether you need a compact lobby, a detailed interior or a larger map, the brief should explain how people move through it. Compare builders on layout, style consistency and practical Studio performance, as well as attractive screenshots.

Describe the game loop, expected player count and the time it should take to cross the map. Share a rough layout showing spawn areas, objectives and important sight lines. Ask for a graybox before detailed decoration so you can test jumps, routes and pacing. Fixing a corridor width or an objective position is much easier when the environment is still made from simple shapes.
Collect a few references and explain what you like about each: palette, density, lighting or silhouette. State which references are only for mood and which dimensions must be followed. Request original work or properly licensed assets, and ask the builder to identify any third-party models. Matching a style does not mean copying another game’s protected map or purchasing assets you do not have permission to reuse.
An environment should be tested on the devices your audience uses. Discuss part count, mesh reuse, collision, transparency and how the map behaves with streaming. If you need moving objects, doors or scripted interactions, name the person responsible for that code. Ask for progress inside Studio and a performance check on representative hardware, rather than approving the entire commission from a high-end desktop screenshot.
Your agreement should say whether you receive the editable place, organized models, lighting settings and a source asset list. Specify which parts are anchored, how collisions are configured and where gameplay markers are located. Review a walk-through with your scripter before acceptance. A tidy handoff makes it easier to add quests, change the layout and expand the world without rebuilding the environment from scratch.
Send candidates the same scope, references, deadline and budget context. Ask each person to separate their estimate into deliverables and revision rounds. Confirm the currency and payment schedule; a percentage of future revenue is not the same as guaranteed cash. Public rates are set by creators and do not establish a platform-wide market price. Clarify what happens if priorities change before work starts.
Agree on ownership, permitted dependencies, handoff files and the person who accepts each milestone. Record changes in writing and keep copies of progress and decisions. Start with a manageable paid milestone instead of requesting a large unpaid test. Account badges and portfolio claims are useful context, but neither removes the need to review evidence and make your own hiring decision.
Choose a builder with examples close to your intended style and map scale. Send the same layout, references and deliverables to each candidate, then compare the proposed process, quote and revision terms.
Do not assume it does. Agree which interactions need scripts and whether a separate scripter will integrate them. Markers and named objects can make that collaboration easier.
A graybox followed by one finished area is often a practical first milestone. It lets you evaluate navigation, visual direction and performance before committing to the rest of the map.
Share the scope, ask about relevant work, and agree on a first milestone.
